# Add MCP servers to Continue

Continue loads YAML block files from .continue/mcpServers/ in your workspace.

- **Project file**: `.continue/mcpServers/<name>.yaml (or drop a Claude/Cursor/Cline-style mcp.json into .continue/mcpServers/)`
- **Top-level key**: `mcpServers`
- **Format**: yaml
- **OAuth for remote servers**: 

## Example config

This example adds GitHub's hosted server and Playwright as a local server, in the shape this client expects.

## Notes and quirks

- mcpServers is a YAML list, not a map, and each block file needs name, version and schema: v1.
- You can also drop a Claude, Cursor or Cline style mcp.json into .continue/mcpServers/.
- Refer to secrets as ${{ secrets.NAME }}.
- OAuth for remote servers isn't documented, and the MCP page doesn't show a global config location.
