Notes and quirks
- ChatGPT on the web connects only to remote servers. Private servers can be reached through Secure MCP Tunnel.
- For OAuth it supports CIMD, dynamic registration or a client you define. Request offline_access to get refresh tokens.
- The ChatGPT desktop app reads Codex's ~/.codex/config.toml, including stdio servers.
- Local servers such as Playwright can't be added on the web.
