Example config

This example adds GitHub's hosted server and Playwright as a local server, in the shape this client expects.

Settings → Tools → AI Assistant → Model Context Protocol (MCP)
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "github": {
      "url": "https://api.githubcopilot.com/mcp/"
    },
    "playwright": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "@playwright/mcp@latest"
      ]
    }
  }
}

Notes and quirks

  • Servers can be added at global or project level.
  • An Import from Claude option is available.
  • Remote entries take a url; one ending in /sse is treated as SSE.
  • Header and OAuth support for remote servers isn't documented.
  • The IDE can also act as an MCP server itself, under Settings | Tools | MCP Server.
